In the Champagne region you will often find these "Blida" style beakers used. As champagne is ubiquitous at every event, no matter how small, they prefer these functional, less fragile, smaller, glasses https://www.grande-cuvee.fr/produit/les-6-blidas-9-cl/

What they are telling us now in Germany is that we should serve our sparkling wine in a "Champagner-Glas," i.e. a special glass for sparking wine which is more slender than a normal white wine glass but fatter and rounder than champagne flutes. Naturally, I have these :-)

But at my wine tastings I serve the sparkling wine in normal white wine glasses. A few guests have commented, none has objected.

I love a good coup, sometimes the wine isn't about the wine, it's about the atmosphere or celebration. I love using coupes for dinner party aperitifs, they're and unexpected surprise and hopefully the company is interesting enough that the wine isn't the main focus. Loved this little piece

The new Riedel English sparkling wine glass is a bit like what Ken describes above…with a easy to break slender stem! On recent visits to Italy (Franciacorta and Trento Doc) that’s the style they were using for tastings. What glass are they using in Champagne?

😁 well tbh I don’t care what anyone drinks Prosecco out of as I don’t touch the stuff. But the fact that it is served in flutes kind of makes my point that the champenois have now made those glasses synonymous with celebration

Not a fan of the flute either, gimme an ordinary glass any day. Great story about the DP tower made mostly of cava… and that Xinomavro is so good, next time you have it you should give this a read and see if the song pairing works for you!
