Interesting on orange wines, I have had a couple and not sure! Definitely recommend exploring Balkans wine. Just back from Montenegro and on the recommendation of the waiter went for a 2019 Kratosija primitivo di Montenegro. Very smooth drinking with a good steak! Enjoyed other Croatian and Montenegrin wines, often blends of local and international grapes, but this was the best!

The Cretan orange wine from Majestic was a game changer for me.I did not like Orange wines at all and tasted many a duff one. This was different, tasty, not too way out,but accomplished.A good introduction to orange Wines- if you don't like this ,then orange wines are probably not for you.

Lastly I think the Vidiano grape has serious potential and could rival Assyrtiko.

I love Vidiano! Look out for ones from Karavitakis - I think his are some of the most interesting now

Genz Z is all about sustainability and natural wine/wine-making practices. So it makes total sense, though your tone sounds more rhetorical.. lol!

Yes, a rhetorical headline there, though it’s nice to see adventurous wines like these finding success. There’s nothing intrinsically more sustainable about them than other organic or biodynamic wines, though

This is really fascinating stuff. It's always inspiring to read about innovators working in such an ancient tradition as wine making, I just really wished I appreciated the results more. I am however very tempted to give one of these a spin, if only to prove to myself I'm not such a stick in the mud wine drinker.

Yes - I am not orange wine’s biggest fan but there are some good ones and it is a really vibrant sector

I know it won’t be. Orange wine is definitely a unique style, the flavors and smells are not (for me) a pleasing regular drinking wine. I only seem to like it sparkling and from Austria or paired with apple pie. I know it is the hipster’s new thing, just like “natural” wine. But really wine drinkers don’t even look at it. My wine shop I work at does an incredible business, we sell one orange wine and I have yet to ever sell it to anyone or even spark an interest in someone.

Ok. Well, it was an entirely rhetorical headline - but interesting to hear!
