A new scandal involving fraudsters counterfeiting high-end Burgundy highlights a long-running problem for the wine industry. Plus: what I've been drinking this week
I'm really curious about the potential counterfeiting of cheap brands. That sounds like a story worth telling - and one that hasn't previously been told (unlike the Kurniawan escapade which has become relatively well known).
Congratulations on your first year on Substack. I love it here, despite the usual chorus of naysayers saying it's pointless, it's all gone to the dogs etc etc...
EDIT: Oof, I just realised this post is from last year! Sorry to be so late to the party.
Congratulations on the anniversary! It's amazing how fast the time goes by. I just passed five this year since converting to a primarily subscription model.

Nice summation. I met Rodenstock twice. He had an entourage in tow both times. A really dreadful man.
Oh really? Fascinating. He does sound like a piece of work from what I’ve read
This is fascinating Andy, thanks! Congrats on 1 year of your blog.
Thanks Penny!
This is RIVETING!
Why thank you!
The idea of fake Yellowtail is sort of blowing my mind. It's a stroke of genius when you think about it.
Might have been an improvement.
Amazing, isn’t it?
